One of the best ‘things to do’ is an excursion inside the Marine Reserve of Capo Gallo. Lots of small local companies charter a boat for you. Usually, you can book a tour in a yacht or in a mini cruise ship from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm visiting all the marine area. The ticket has a cost between 80 – 90 euros for person including lunch on board. This kind of activity is frequently required also in the second part of the day, in order to admire the sunset between Mondello, Sferracavallo and Isola delle Femmine sea villages. In any case, you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the incredible seabeds. The sailors will take you in fascinating sea caves, for example into the Grotta dell’Olio (Oil cave) and the Grotta della Regina (Queen’s cave).
Sport and Relax
At the beginning, you’ll just have to take a deck chair and lie in the sun. Then, you can also consider what surrounds you. Especially for the sea lovers Mondello offers a lot of things to do. In the coast side of Mondello are located clubs and beach properties where you can rent surfboard, canoe or sup. In general, all these places offer you swimming, sailing or diving classes. Instead, if you prefer to make different activities, you’ll find many camps for playing golf, tennis or padel. Then, you could also explore the several paths on Pellegrino Mountain and the beautiful Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia. Instead, on Monte Gallo there is one of the most famous paths. It is tracked to reach the old lighthouse (or ‘heremit’s house’) which dominates the entire Mondello Gulf. Normally, the climb has long 1:30 hour by walking. We suggest to go there during the first lights of the day!
Where to eat in Mondello
As you can imagine, this beautiful sea village is also famous for the local cooking tradition. Every day local fishermen occupy the seafront with several small boats or fish nets. Surely, finding fresh fish is not a surprise in the local restaurants. In the centre square of Mondello, you could taste every day the Sicilian street food with the local fish and chips.
